THE NATURE OF NATURE

Carl Sagan once said, “We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever.” Despite our finite existence, artists have repeatedly attempted to capture the boundless grandeur, complexity, and wonder of nature.

The MIA examines the natural world through art assembled from every corner of the museum. Each installation takes a different angle, from nature’s fierce and brutal power to humanity’s attempts to control it.
